Tension Rings were originally developed in Germany in the 1970’s. They were an immediate hit, as people love the effect of a gemstone, seemingly floating with no obvious support. Far stronger and safer to wear than they first appear, these rings must be hand-manufactured from cold metal. They are almost exclusively made in platinum or high carat gold in order to ensure the metal has the tensile strength required to safely hold the stone in place.
Uli has been one of Canada’s premiere manufacturers of tension rings over two decades. In that time, he has developed ways to safely tension set semi-precious stones in silver, allowing a whole new segment of the population access to these beautiful, technical marvels of a ring.
